## What is Otterly?

Otterly was founded in 2024 by Thomas Peham (CEO), Josef Trauner (CPO), and Klaus-M. Schremser (CRO) — an Austrian SaaS team with prior product track record. The product launched in October 2024; OtterlyAI 2.0 shipped in June 2025. Otterly was named a Gartner Cool Vendor in AI for Marketing 2025 and won Best AI Search Software Solution at the European Search Awards in May 2026. The company reports "20,000+ Marketing Pros" on their about page (homepage copy says 30,000+; the two figures don't match), and aggregate customer reviews put them at 4.8/5 on G2 ([g2.com/products/otterly-ai](https://www.g2.com/products/otterly-ai/reviews)).

The product polls a customer-defined set of prompts against AI engines and reports brand visibility, share of voice, citation tracking, and sentiment. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Microsoft Copilot are bundled in every tier; Google AI Mode, Gemini, and Claude are paid add-ons ($9–$439/mo depending on tier). The taglines are direct: _"We otter know where your brand shows up on AI Search"_ and _"Optimize once. Get cited everywhere."_ ([otterly.ai](https://otterly.ai)). Otterly added Recommendations (April 2026) — actionable per-page suggestions, not generated content — and a public Claude Skill / read API in June 2026.

Pricing is $29/mo Lite (15 prompts, daily refresh), $189/mo Standard (100 prompts), $489/mo Premium (400 prompts), with Enterprise on request. Seats are unlimited on every tier; the lever is prompt count.

## The philosophy difference

Otterly is a _measurement-first_ product. The highest-value loop, in their model, is to know precisely where your brand shows up across answer engines, with a daily refresh, segmented by country and persona — leaving the customer (or their agency) to do the work of changing what shows up. Their April 2026 Recommendations release moved them a step toward diagnostic guidance, and the Claude Skill ships citation-gap data to other tools, but Otterly itself does not modify the customer's site, generate content, or sit in the request path. The pricing axis is prompt count and engine breadth; the customer pays for tracking volume.

AgentSite is a _fix-first_ product. Our working theory is that until bots can fetch readable bytes from the customer's origin (rendered HTML, structured data, llms.txt, agent-card files), measurement is downstream of a deeper problem. We sit in the install layer at the customer's origin and emit the assets bots and answer engines need. The pricing axis is render volume and site count; the customer pays for the install + the score, not the polling. The two products are complementary in principle: an Otterly customer can run AgentSite to move their numbers; an AgentSite customer can run Otterly to watch the lift.

## When to pick Otterly, when to pick AgentSite

**Pick Otterly if:**

- You want daily polling across 4-7 engines and 50+ countries as a primary deliverable
- Your buyer is a marketer or agency client services lead who wants a tracking dashboard
- You already control your site's content and just need to know where it lands
- You don't need to modify how bots fetch your site — you only need to measure the outcome

**Pick AgentSite if:**

- Your buyer is a developer or growth engineer and the problem is bot-readable delivery
- You want generated FAQ + Agent Experience pages on your own origin
- You care about what bots fetch, not just what they say after
- You want a single $29/mo install that handles rendering + schema + llms.txt + scoring
